Privacy Policy

This policy explains the information Radon Cost Guide may collect, why it is used, and the choices available to users.

Effective date: August 20, 2026

Scope

Radon Cost Guide is a U.S.-focused radon education, cost-estimation, contractor-directory, profile-claim, correction, and service-request website. It does not perform radon testing, mitigation, inspections, construction, engineering, environmental consulting, legal services, or medical services.

Information we may collect

Information depends on the feature used. A service request may include a name, email address, ZIP code, requested service, reported radon reading, approximate home size, foundation and basement details, sump-pit information, project notes, consent records, and submission timestamps. Telephone numbers are not collected through the current lead form.

Directory and claim records may include business contact information, service-area evidence, credential information, public-source records, claimant information, supporting documentation, review status, and audit timestamps.

Google supplies identity information needed for protected owner administration. Hosting and security systems may process IP address, browser or device information, request time, and similar technical information needed to operate and protect the service.

How information is used

Information may be used to provide site features, calculate modeled planning ranges, save and review service requests, maintain the directory, review claims and corrections, prevent abuse, send transactional notices when configured, maintain consent and audit records, troubleshoot the service, and comply with legal obligations.

A reported radon reading is not used merely to increase a modeled price. EPA zones and nearby measurements are not property-specific test results; testing is the only way to determine a home's radon level.

Service requests and sharing

Automatic contractor delivery is currently disabled. A request is saved for owner review. If owner-reviewed sharing is activated for a request and the user gave the displayed consent, the request may be shared with no more than three geographically relevant participating radon professionals. A response is not guaranteed.

The current consent does not authorize automated dialing, artificial or prerecorded voice calls, marketing text messages, or unrelated marketing.

Service providers

Current infrastructure includes Vercel for hosting, Neon PostgreSQL for application data, Google OAuth for protected administration, Resend for transactional email, and Google Analytics for basic website-usage measurement. Cloudflare Turnstile may be used for spam prevention when configured. Advertising may be enabled only with clear labeling and in accordance with the Advertising Disclosure.

Retention

  • Unshared homeowner requests: up to 12 months.
  • Owner-approved transmitted leads: up to 24 months.
  • Consent, recipient, transmission, privacy-request, and do-not-contact records: up to five years.
  • Contractor claim and correction audit history: up to five years after closure.
  • Identity-verification uploads: ordinarily deleted within 90 days after a decision unless needed for an active dispute, fraud review, or legal obligation.
  • Security and request logs: ordinarily up to 90 days.
  • Transactional email metadata: ordinarily up to 12 months.
  • Analytics, if enabled: no more than 14 months unless this policy is updated.
  • Rolling backups: ordinarily 30 to 90 days.

Records may be retained longer when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, a legal claim, compliance, or another lawful purpose.

Security and data minimization

Radon Cost Guide limits collection to information reasonably needed for the relevant feature and restricts protected owner functions through server-side authentication. No internet service can guarantee complete security. Users should not submit medical records, financial credentials, Social Security numbers, or other unnecessary sensitive information.

Your choices

Users may request access, correction, or deletion where applicable. Identity or authority may need to be verified, and lawful exceptions may apply. Contractor-directory correction and suppression requests are handled under the Correction and Removal Policy.

State privacy rights vary and may depend on legal thresholds and actual processing. Radon Cost Guide will honor applicable rights and qualifying universal opt-out signals where legally required; this statement does not claim that every right applies to every user.

Children and international access

The site is not directed to children under 13. Users must be at least 18 to submit a service request, contractor claim, correction request, or other legally significant submission. The service is designed for users in the United States.

Changes

This policy may be updated as site features, vendors, or legal requirements change. The effective date will be updated, and material changes will be reviewed to determine whether additional notice or consent is appropriate.
